“They are people that have made bad decisions, bad choices,” says Dr. Young. “I think that if [these inmates] knew how to do it differently they would.” She believes most of them are responsible for their behavior and that there should be consequences. “ Many of them want to get out but some of them don’t because they have been in society and they saw what happened there,” she says. Here are some of those men.

    2. I was a mental ill person put in Prison in MN. I was locked away, stripped, medicated, threatened, screamed at and attacked and even more. We need help We need treatment. I have gotten treatment I am no an artist, a college student and hope to become an art therapist. I can do anything when I am given the treatment I need for my menatl ilnness issues . I am nothing go a lost amd tormented soul locked away without it.

    3. It is so sad that in the year 2009 we are locking up these individuals and not providing the care they need. What does our future look like- if this is how we treat those in great need?

    4. So… “the yard” isn’t actually “A” Yard… It’s not actually going outside to breathe fresh air, feel the sun, or rain on their faces; it’s a library, a classroom, a room w/ pool tables… and they only get 3-4hrs a week there?
