Blanket of White
Blanket of White is an aerial photo project exploring Minnesota in winter, when fresh snow transforms the landscape into something quiet, graphic, and surreal. Shot from drones and helicopters, the images look straight down at fields, roads, frozen lakes, and small human presences partially swallowed by white.
From above, familiar places become abstract. The snow simplifies everything, reducing the land to lines, shapes, and subtle textures, while people, vehicles, and structures reveal scale and vulnerability within that vastness. What can feel harsh and isolating on the ground becomes calm and unexpectedly beautiful from the air.
The project is both a study of winter’s visual power and a meditation on how Minnesotans exist within it, momentarily etched into a landscape that will soon erase their tracks.
