Finding Home - Somali Women in Minnesota
Finding Home is a photographic exploration of Somali women building lives and identities in Minnesota. Since the early 1990s, thousands of Somalis have arrived in the United States, seeking safety and stability far from civil war and persecution. Minnesota is now home to the largest Somali population in the country, and one of the fastest-growing communities in the state.
Through intimate, everyday moments, this project looks beyond headlines to the textures of belonging—family, faith, work, and resilience. The photographs reflect a community that is no longer on the margins, but an essential part of Minnesota’s human landscape, shaping the present while defining what home means for the next generation.
